The Siri technology is an integral feature of the iPhone 4S firmware, and aside from direct voice commands, allows asking plain-language questions about various facts and figures. A Wolfram Alpha widget primarily answers questions related to math and numerical facts, such as the distance to the moon....

A lawyer for Proview Shenzhen, Xie Xianghui, is claiming that a court in the Xicheng district of Beijing is prepared to "slap Apple with a 240 million yuan ($38 million) fine," according to the Global Times. The Xicheng district administration, though, is refusing to comment. "It is still under investigation, so no official comments on the case can be made yet," a media officer with the administration states. The China Daily meanwhile quotes Xie as also demanding an apology, and an injunction against the sale and marketing of iPads in China....

Adobe has uncovered more details of Creative Cloud, its upcoming online service. The service was originally announced in October, but until now has been largely kept under wraps. Access will cost at least $50 a month under a one-year contract, but grant users access to the apps in Creative Suite 6; by comparison, current CS5.5 bundles start at $1,299 up-front, and can cost as much as $2,599 for the complete collection....

New Gartner data breaking down European computer market share has shown poor results for almost every computer builder outside of Apple. Continent-wide, both market leader HP as well as Acer, Dell, and Toshiba were all dropping market share. Only ASUS (up 1.5 points) increased share based solely on its own merits among the top five; Lenovo's gain was inflated by its acquiring Medion last June....

RIM's Developer Relations VP Alec Saunders made aggressive claims about the state of BlackBerry App World at his company's DevCon Europe keynote on Tuesday morning. He contended that the store was the second-most profitable mobile app store after Apple's own and that Android lagged behind significantly. Along with having more overall paid downloads than the normally larger Google shop, BlackBerry titles typically made about 40 percent more revenue than their paid Android counterparts....

Canon has introduced three all-in-one Pixma printers, the MX372, the MX512 Wireless and the MX432 Wireless. The two wireless enabled devices both support AirPrint allowing users to print directly from an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The printers are also accompanied by a companion mobile app, Canon Easy-PhotoPrint that is available for both iOS- and Android-based smartphones and tablets and now allows users to print PDFs created directly on the devices, not just photos as previously....

A paper written by a former Apple intern, and now Core OS engineer, has detailed Appleís attempts at getting a full version of Mac OS X to boot on an ARM processor, reports iMore. Initially subject to an embargo, but just recently published, the paper was written as part of a Bachelor degree thesis in 2010 by Tristan Schapp. It details the technical aspects and challenges associated with getting Darwin, which underpins OS X, to work effectively on the ARM architecture....

Canon brought Wi-Fi to more of its point-and-shoot cameras on Tuesday. Both the Elph 530 HS and Elph 320 HS can both send media directly to Image Gateway, an in-between album that in turn lets users share to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. An iOS app, CameraWindow is coming in March that promises to keep compact cameras relevant: it will let owners send photos and videos directly to the Apple devices both for safekeeping and to upload to the same social sites....

The most performance-minded camera in Canon's lineup for the CP+ show Tuesday was unveiled as the SX260 HS. While the model name is slightly off from leaks, it confirms talk of a leap from 14X to 20X zoom in the body. The design comes outfitted with both a 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor that helps in low light as well as a DIGIC 5 chip that improves image quality and allows for 1080p video....

Sam's Club, a discount chain owned by Wal-Mart, is said to be in early talks with Apple on expanding the two firms' existing relationship, which may include developing Store-Within-A-Store (SWOS) concepts similar to what Apple is already doing with Best Buy and Target. Sam's Club is said to be just one of a number of retailers Apple is exploring expanding the concept to, and may see the retailer carrying Macs as well as its current iOS offerings....

Canon picked Tuesday to bring out no less than six new PowerShot A-series cameras to boost its entry level. At the top, the A4000 IS and A3400 IS each have firsts: the A4000 IS has a long 8X zoom, while the similar-resolution A3400 has a 5X zoom but is the first A-series with a touchscreen that can be used to focus or take the shot. These and the other new cameras in the line all have 16-megapixel sensors and 720p video support....

Canon's turn at launches for the CP+ camera show were headlined by a major rethink of its rugged camera. The PowerShot D20 is dramatically smaller and thinner than the D10 while keeping the durability. It can take water up to 33 feet deep, survive temperatures as cold as 14F or as warm as 104F, and survive drops of up to five feet. Its button layout is designed to be used with gloves on and has presets for underwater (including macros) and snow....

Microsoft through its Facebook page and separate confirmations has confirmed another retail store opening that will clash with an Apple location. The new store will open in northern Austin's Domain shopping center, a location Apple has occupied since 2007. It hasn't given a date or an exact position of where the store will be located....
