Siri now represents about a quarter of all the queries submitted to Wolfram Alpha, says the New York Times. The Siri technology is an integral feature of the iPhone 4S firmware, and aside from direct voice commands, allows asking plain-language questions about various facts and figures. A Wolfram Alpha widget primarily answers questions related to math and numerical facts, such as the distance to the moon....

Proview claims possible $38M fine in Apple lawsuit

A lawyer for Proview Shenzhen, Xie Xianghui, is claiming that a court in the Xicheng district of Beijing is prepared to "slap Apple with a 240 million yuan ($38 million) fine," according to the Global Times. The Xicheng district administration, though, is refusing to comment. "It is still under investigation, so no official comments on the case can be made yet," a media officer with the administration states. The China Daily meanwhile quotes Xie as also demanding an apology, and an injunction against the sale and marketing of iPads in China....

Adobe reveals details of upcoming Creative Cloud service

Access will cost at least $50 a month under a one-year contract, but grant users access to the apps in Creative Suite 6; by comparison, current CS5.5 bundles start at $1,299 up-front, and can cost as much as $2,599 for the complete collection....

Gartner: Apple nearly only PC builder gaining European share

Apple intern paper hints at full Mac OS X on ARM

Initially subject to an embargo, but just recently published, the paper was written as part of a Bachelor degree thesis in 2010 by Tristan Schapp. It details the technical aspects and challenges associated with getting Darwin, which underpins OS X, to work effectively on the ARM architecture....

The PowerShot D20 is dramatically smaller and thinner than the D10 while keeping the durability. It can take water up to 33 feet deep, survive temperatures as cold as 14F or as warm as 104F, and survive drops of up to five feet. Its button layout is designed to be used with gloves on and has presets for underwater (including macros) and snow....

Microsoft through its Facebook page and separate confirmations has confirmed another retail store opening that will clash with an Apple location. The new store will open in northern Austin's Domain shopping center, a location Apple has occupied since 2007. It hasn't given a date or an exact position of where the store will be located....
