Client Security

As a business-class IT provider, Tech Superpowers takes security very seriously. We respect the privacy and data security of each and every client independently of every other client. Our security policy covers things as simple as family photos on a computer being repaired or as complex as your company's critical data.

Our client data security charter is as follows:

  • We retain client data only as long as it needs to be retained.
  • We restrict access to client information to Tech Superpowers full-time employees who are contractually bound to client confidentiality.
  • We will not provide access to client data to anyone except for the client or staff who need access the data to do their jobs, with the exception of law enforcement.
  • Client data when stored on our servers will be protected via RAID systems which can sustain a drive failure without loss of data. If not, multiple copies of your data will be retained.
  • Hosting data will be backed up regularly (daily or weekly - frequency depends on the type of data) and backups will be regularly verified.
  • We have a disaster recovery plan in case of physical destruction of our infrastructure which will protect client data if at all possible.
  • For situations beyond our control (regional event, fire, theft), we will strive to have insurance coverage sufficient to cover the loss of client information
  • We will disclose any situation where client data has been compromised or data has been lost due to any circumstance.

Please note that this charter applies to client data which is retained physically within a Tech Superpowers office or Tech Superpowers-owned servers. It does not apply to client-owned equipment and the data contained within, even if we provide ongoing support for this equipment. Ultimately, it is the client's responsibility to make sure that their backups are working properly, or that you contract us to provide a service which verifies your data integrity to your satisfaction.

In addition, if you have our Managed Machines service or Managed Backup services, our contracts contain the following language regarding your information.

6.1 Confidentiality. Provider shall maintain in strict confidence, and shall use and disclose only as authorized by Client, all information of a competitively sensitive or proprietary nature that it receives in connection with the work performed for Client. Provider shall require its personnel to agree to do likewise. Client shall take reasonable steps to identify for the benefit of Provider and its personnel any information of a competitively sensitive or proprietary nature, including by using confidentiality notices in written material where appropriate. These restrictions shall not be construed to apply to (1) information generally available to the public; (2) information released by Client generally without restriction; (3) information independ- ently developed or acquired by Provider or its personnel without reliance in any way on other protected information of Client; or (4) information approved for the use and disclosure of Provider or its personnel without restriction. Notwithstanding the foregoing restrictions, Provider and its personnel may use and disclose any information (1) to the extent required by an order of any court or other governmental author- ity or (2) as necessary for it or them to protect their interests in this Agreement, but in each case only after Client has been so notified and has had the opportunity, if possible, to obtain reasonable protection for such information in connection with such disclosure.

There are of course situations where data loss is unavoidable: hard drive crashes, spills on your computer, or a dropped laptop. In these cases, we'll do everything that we can to recover your data, but if some data is lost, we can only provide alternative data recovery options.
