So we just got word from the kind folks at Trees for the Future about where our donation has gone and how it is being spent. We adopted the community of Botolan, Zambales in the Philippines. That means that an addition of at least 5,000 trees will be planted this month during their rainy season. According to TREES, the area was devastated by the powerful 1991 eruption of the Pinatubo volcano leaving the land quite toxic from all the ash. They will plant these trees with the villagers in order to rebuild the organic matter in the soil, improve crop production, and provide food, fodder, timber and other necessities. These trees shall protect the land, rebuild these communities, as well as take several tons of pollution from the global atmosphere.
