So anyone that's been keeping track of my changing opinion on the iPhone has seen my original post about the iPhone's limitations:
The iPhone will only be the ultimate mobile device once the phone becomes unlocked. Unless I can use it on the Orange network in the UK with my Orange SIM or the TeleNor network in Norway with a TeleNor SIM, the iPhone is a "US-Only" device, which honestly, for me, is useless...
Today, my iPhone got "upgraded" by me to "the ultimate mobile device."
Using the guide at http://iphone.unlock.no/, I unlocked the iPhone for use on any GSM network. With only a few extra settings for data, I was up and running on both Orange CH (in Switzerland) and Orange in the UK. It's seamless and incredible. Suddenly, I have the world's best mobile phone.
3G or not, this thing is seriously the best phone out on the market.
Best thing about the unlock is that all you need is a folder of specific files and a lot of technical-knowhow. But no other tools, special SIM cards, or hardware changes are needed.
Note: That guide requires some pretty specific technical skill. Email us if you're interested in us doing this for you.

Ted- I'm comin' for YOU next! You better watch where you peddle your bike this weekend, 'cos I'm gonna be rollin along with my non-iPhone phone plastered to my ear. (Don't tell dad) Oh, but I'll be on a bike too. But my bike has those spiky hubs like in that Charlton Heston gladiator movie!
