Since the opening of the Apple Store next to our Newbury Street location, we've been focused on doing what the Apple Store does, but better. That's not easy when you're a small New England business competing against a worldwide brand.
Repair, Reuse, Recycle is Tech Superpowers' own local initiative to be smarter about the consumer products that we buy and eventually throw away. Unlike the Apple Store, which sells and repairs only new products, we're all about the entire lifecycle of your products. If we can help you keep your computers running longer, give them another home, and recycle them properly when they reach obsolescence, then maybe we can keep a few more electronic bits from reaching the landfill.
While nothing beats the feeling of getting a nice new Apple device, our Repair, Reuse, Recycle initiative makes sure that old doesn't always mean useless.
Repair
If your computer is broken, try to repair it first, don't replace it. Sure, there are times when the repair cost starts to approach the cost of a new machine, but we see too many computers with perfectly good life left in them being thrown out. iPods, iPhones, and iPads too - many of those with broken or cracked screens and scratches can be refurbished to be as good as, well - maybe not new - but pretty darn close. Need to get a quote? Contact our Repair Department to get one.
Reuse
If you do get something new, maybe see if we can reuse it instead of throwing it out. Simply donate it to Tech Superpowers (some equipment may even get you a credit against buying something new), and we'll see if we can find it a second home. We work with local charitable organizations and clinics (like MGH) to provide these to people who need computers - but who don't care about getting the highest gigahertz. Email us with a description of your product and we'll tell you if we can reuse it.
Recycle
Every piece of electronics will have its day - such is the nature of technology. When it's ready to depart the land of the living, make sure that the computer doesn't end up in landfill. Computers are made up of many substances, some of them toxic when left to degrade in a junk pile. Tech Superpowers works with recycling firms to make sure that your computer waste is disposed of properly. Sign up for our monthly newsletter to be notified of special recycling days, when you can bring in your old electronics and get a credit in exchange for any Mac, iPod, or iPhone product.
