Let's not beat around the bush. When people talk about deploying tablets in business, they're talking about deploying Apple's iPad. With the largest selection of apps, an intuitive interface, and enterprise-friendly features like Exchange compatibility and remote wipe, the iPad is a first-class device for any business.
The iPhone, too, is becoming a common sight in business. With the latest iOS version 5, the iPhone gets even better enterprise and business features.
On November 1st, 2011, TEDx NewEngland debuted, and Tech Superpowers is proud to be one of the inaugural sponsors. Organized by TSP client Steve Baker, held at TSP client WGBH, and hosted by world-famous tech journalist David Pogue, TEDx NewEngland brought the innovative "Ideas Worth Acting On" concept to Boston.
With a program of incredible speakers including Tod Machover of MIT's Media Lab, artist Janet Echelman, Harvard Business School dean Nitin Nohria, and venture capitalist Jeet Singh, TEDx covered topics as diverse as the morality of today's CEOs, nuclear reactors, and young entrepreneurship – all thinking that we need more of in today's complex world.
Friday and Saturday, Lucas of our Patriot Place store will be participating in "Extra Life" - a gaming marathon which helps raise funds for the Children's Miracle Network hospitals. For 24 hours, Lucas, supported by other Tech Superpowers staff and his boss Mike, will be honing his hand-eye coordination with video games using our 8 big screen TVs and the "Geek My Ride" Lexus in our Patriot Place retail store. All of the funds that he raises will go to the Baystate Children's Hospital.
Please help us support Lucas in his quest to be a hero for kids in need by showing up in-store, buying promotional products, and donating to the Extra Life cause.
Between the hours of 5PM and 7:30PM Eastern Time on Tuesday October 25th, 2011, Tech Superpowers email hosting customers experienced an outage where emails which were being sent to all TSP email accounts was not delivered in a timely manner. During this period, the mail server was holding emails for delivery and not delivering them to user mailboxes, but no email was lost. No other services were affected outside of email.
The reason for this outage was a malfunction in our spam filters which resulted in them not processing emails. These issues were an unanticipated result of actions which an email administrator was taking to increase the efficacy of our spam filters, and unfortunately, a script was run which caused the databases which run the spam filters to seize up and not function. Since all email goes through our filters, that resulted in incoming emails being held by the email server until we resolved the issue.
It's hard for me to remember what year it was, but I must have been around 10 years old, when my dad brought home our first Macintosh - the Mac 512K or "Fat Mac" as it was called. We were already an Apple household, having an Apple IIe which my brother and I used from the very beginning of memory. But the Mac was different and incredible – and in my case, life changing.
The iPhone 4S is the latest in the epic line of smartphones from Apple. Simple design, simple interface, but incredible features. And now with Siri - the first voice recognition software available on any smartphone that just works.
We're also happy to announce that with the advent of the iPhone 4S, Tech Superpowers is now an AT&T Authorized Retailer that carries the entire Apple iPhone lineup, from the 3GS, free with contract, to the iPhone 4S, starting at $199 with contract.
When you're a business looking to protect your data offsite, there are literally hundreds of choices. From "free" consumer offsite backup services to expensive rented servers, it seems like everyone has a solution for protecting your data.
If you're a Mac-based company who has too much important data to risk and wants your data in a controlled and highly protected environment, our Managed Backup service is for you.
Terabytes of Data
Our Managed Backup clients think in Terabytes (1000 GBs) not in Gigabytes. Our process starts with a "seed" of your backup which is done to a hard drive, which is then physically moved to our secure offsite storage facility by our own staff. From there, this seed is updated with the latest changes from your server, making it not only possible to backup Terabytes of data offsite, but also to keep our backups current with your fast-paced workflow.
Better Than the "Cloud"
